Chamber explores the experience of an enclosed interior space. Layered forms fold around a central area, creating the impression of a contained chamber within the painting. Deep brown and charcoal tones establish a strong outer structure, while burgundy, dusty pink, cream, and muted grey-blue passages create contrasting layers within it.
The composition develops through overlapping bands and curved forms that repeatedly turn back into the image. The large dark upper area gives the work a sense of weight, while the lighter central forms create an interior space that feels softer and more exposed.
Rather than directing the eye outward, the painting keeps attention within its boundaries. Forms overlap, recede, and reappear, creating a sense of depth without relying on conventional perspective. The visible strokes preserve the physicality of the painting and emphasize the gradual construction of the surface.
What interests me in Chamber is the tension between shelter and confinement. The surrounding forms create protection and structure, but they also make the central space feel deliberately contained. This ambiguity gives the painting its quiet psychological presence.
A contemporary abstract painting with layered organic forms, earthy reds and browns, muted neutrals, and architectural depth, Chamber works as distinctive modern wall art in intimate and considered interiors.
