Threshold explores the space between enclosure and passage. Broad, curved forms frame an open central field, creating the impression of a threshold between two states. Warm browns, dusty rose, deep burgundy, cream, and muted pink tones build a restrained composition in which the surrounding forms seem to guide the eye toward and across the central space.
The painting developed through layered, deliberate strokes. The visible movement within each form gives the surface a tactile quality, while the repeated contours create a sense of continuity around the composition. Darker passages provide weight and definition, contrasting with the softer central area without fully separating it from its surroundings.
What interests me in Threshold is the moment in which a contained space becomes a point of transition. The forms appear to hold the centre in place while simultaneously creating an opening through it. This tension between boundary and passage gives the painting its quiet movement.
The work remains deliberately restrained, allowing colour, repetition, and spatial relationships to carry the composition rather than a fixed narrative.
A contemporary abstract painting in warm earthy tones, Threshold combines organic curved forms, layered surface, and architectural spatial depth. Its balanced composition makes it a distinctive piece of modern wall art for considered interiors and collectors of original abstract artwork.
